Laurel Canyon Bleached Blonde Hardwood Floor + Rubio Monocoat

This was a unique hardwood floor transformation to say the least. These light floors are Sapele wood. The owners of this Los Angeles hardwood floor didn't like the orange look and wanted to change them to a light colored floor. The orange tone was due to a combination of the wood’s natural color and the oil based hardwood floor finish that had been applied years ago that had now yellowed and darkened with age. The dustless refinishing process helped to remove the old orange polyurethane however there was still pinkish tone in the wood the initial sanding process. What to do? We bleached the wood floors twice. The process was carefully done and the floors went from red/pink to blonde. After letting the bleach dry, we neutralized and finished the floors with Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C hardwax oil. The light floors now make the space feel bright and clean. We love the outcome of this bleached floor in Los Angeles, as do the homeowners.

Marcos just finished refinishing our hardwood floors, and they are absolutely beautiful! Working with him has been the easiest part of a long remodel project. He communicated details in advance and always arrived on time. He finished the work in the exact time he estimated it would take. He and his crew were meticulous. They removed old floor vents and patched the holes. You cannot tell at all where the new wood comes into the old. When it came time to choose a color, they put the samples right there on the floor so we could see exactly what it would look like.
