Malibou Lake Rustic White Oak Floor + Rubio Monocoat
Located in Malibou Lake, California within the Santa Monica Mountains, the client’s vision behind this hardwood floor sanding and refinishing project was to have rustic looking wood floors. We knew stripping the old finish off the floors and hand scraping and distressing them would achieve the look they wanted.
This type of work is extremely physical and time consuming, however the end result is 100% worth the effort. The wood floor area was about 950 sq/ft, with the addition of a staircase. That's quite a lot of flooring to scrape by hand. Once the floors were distressed and sanded, we applied Rubio Monocoat hardwax oil, a super low VOC finish, on top. With this finish, the homeowners will be able to easily maintain and recoat their floors down the road, without the need to sand them first like conventional suface finishes. This was especially important for these irregular, hand distressed floors. The clients were thrilled with the unique results. A truly one of a kind Los Angeles hardwood floor we were proud to restore.
