The decision to stain your floors is completely optional – think of it as a way to customize and color your wood flooring. Staining wood floors can really make a difference in the appearance of your floors, however if not done correctly, the results can be tragic.
The staining process starts with the sanding of your floors – which has to be done to perfection, as staining will highlight the floor’s natural grain and the sanding job. To ensure our staining process is a success we make sure to follow the proper sanding sequence – which will vary based on species of wood we are working with, as some wood species are harder/softer than others. To yield the best results we use specialized sanding equipment and sand paper specific to the process that will minimize any sanding marks so they do not show up after the stain is applied. The second step includes creating color samples based on our your ideas, desired color and/or the matching of an existing color.
There are different products available for staining, such as oil stain, water-base stain, dyes, reactive stains, etc. We will work with you to determine which type of stain will best achieve the results you’re looking for.
